U.S. Custom and Border Protection has begun collecting biometric data from a limited number of foreigners who are departing the US via Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The project should expand to location such as Miami, New York, San Francisco by this fall. The data collected will be compared to the biometrics collected when the travelers entered the U.S. and it will be stored in a secured data system managed by the Department of Homeland Security.
